I'm Haytam Laalilis
Cinematographer | Photographer
Haytam Laalilis was born on September 1st, 1995 in Ouarzazate, known as the "Hollywood of Africa." Growing up in a family of artists and writers, Haytam was exposed to the world of cinematography at a young age through his father, who was a novelist and poet. He was also influenced by his father's love for cinematography, as the two of them would watch films from different eras and discuss their favorite directors and cinematographers, including Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, and Roger Deakins.
At the age of 17, Haytam began making his own films with friends, using the knowledge he had gained from his father. Despite facing financial and family problems, Haytam pursued his passion for film by attending film school for two years before dropping out. Despite this setback, he continued to work on various projects, such as video clips, short films, commercials, and even a documentary about traditional marriages in Zagoura.
Haytam's love for cinematography has driven him to constantly improve his skills and knowledge, as he continues to learn and experiment on his own. He has even participated in a small film festival in Rabat, where one of his short films as a cinematographer placed 20th. Haytam's passion for storytelling and his dedication to his craft have led him to create numerous projects that showcase his talent and creativity.
"In the tapestry of my portfolio as a cinematographer and photographer, I weave compelling stories through the language of visuals, crafting a narrative that transcends time and space. Each image is a brushstroke, every frame a chapter, together painting a vivid panorama of emotions and perspectives. Through the alchemy of art, we sculpt not just images but aspirations, contributing to a better future shaped by the transformative power of storytelling."
